About

Platters Ltd. Record Store Was Here (Dead Boys Appeared)

Platters Ltd. record store was here in the late 1970s. See, for ex., http://www.library.upenn.edu/docs/kislak/dp/1978/1978_03_02.pdf, at 34th Street supplement, p. 10. Also, see https://www.newspapers.com/image/185365440/?terms=%22platters+ltd.%22. I remember the Dead Boy's greeting fans in the store in the late 70s. I don't remember when, and can't confirm online, although it may have coincided with the band playing the Hot Club at 21st and South on 10/10/77. I recall that the store cashier was Steve Dunn, who I think was in the Duplicators at the time, and later sang for the Ben Wah Torpedos.

4/1/19- I tie the Dead Boys' appearance here with an experience at the Sit and Spin Records' store a few days ago at https://www.roadsidehistoricalmarkers.com/location/item/11269-sit-and-spin-records-a-great-record-store-dead-boys/trendy_address=dead%20boys?rid=113
