Philadelphia's First Free Lending Library Was Here

The Free Library of Philadelphia opened here in 1894, and this was its central branch, setting world records for circulation, until it moved to the Benjamin Franklin Parkway in 1927. See yesterday's Philadelphia Inquirer, p. C2, in an article by Patrick Glennon of the Historical Society of Pennsylvania.
