WWII Hero Eddie Houseman's Parents Lived Here

Eddie Houseman was killed in the Pacific while a prisoner during World War II. The Houseman Recreation Center on Summerdale Ave. in Philadelphia is named in his honor, and there is a plaque there. He grew up at 5645 Miriam Road, but his parents had moved to 956 Foulkrod Street when they learned their son died upon the sinking of a Japanese Hell Ship. This information is from an article about him in the Philadelphia Inquirer, by Frank Fitzpatrick, 2/26/19 at p. D2.
