TYCO HO Lighted Building - Church No. 941

The steeple on TYCO plastic model No. 941, a church, for HO train displays, was modeled after the steeple on the Abington Presbyterian Church, according to the family of the TYCO model maker who designed it. It was produced from 1972 to 1980.

Comments : There was an article in yesterdays Philadelphia Inquirer, at pp. B1, B5, about this church now celebrating its 300th anniversary. Some interesting items from the article follow. The church was visited by President Benjamin Harrison in 1889. It was visited by Secretary of State William Jennings Bryan in 1914. Merchant and U.S. Postmaster General John Wanamaker was a member. Wanamaker also donated the grand church bell that still rings out from Abingtons steeple today.
