There is an article, 125 Years of History for FFCo, by Dick Shearer in Discover Lansdale, Fall 2014, starting at p. 12. It talks about the rivalry between two fire companies, Fairmount and Lansdale Hose and Steam Company. It does not give the date but suggests that the battle occurred early in the last century. The article says there was a fire in a photography studio on Courtland Street where the Wells Fargo Bank parking lot is now, and it turned into a water battle between the two brigades. Afterward, borough council decided that Fairmount FIre Company should be the sole fire brigade in town. (The article says that a booklet on the history of Fairmount Fire Company is available from the Lansdale Historical Society.)
