Corinthian Columns in rear of Safian & Rudolph

Corinthian Columns in rear of Safian & Rudolph

This was the Philadelphia Press Building when it opened in 1898, designed by Theophilus P. Chandler, Jr. in the style of a Venetian palazzo. The first floor was modernized in 1960, and the Corinthian Columns in the rear survived. This information is from Inga Saffron's article in the Philadelphia Inquirer, 5/31/15, at p. H17. (This is the rear of the jewelry store. The front door is on Sansom Street.)
