Mob boss Angelo The Gentle Don Bruno (1910-1980) lived at 934 Snyder Ave, and was shot and killed while sitting in the passenger seat of a car in front of it on 3/21/80. There is a controversy because the Philadelphia Historical Commission is considering adding the location to its Register of Historic Places, according to the Philadelphia Inquirer, 2/15/16, at p. A3. A later mob boss who was Bruno's driver, John Stanfa, was a stonemason who did some of the brickwork on the Bruno home, and Bruno's daughter, Jean, still lives there, according to the article. A rival mob boss, Anthony Dominic Pollina, aka Mr. Migs (1893-1993), lived nearby at 926 Snyder Ave., according to http://www.phillymag.com/property/2014/02/25/philadelphia-mob-boss-home/.
