First Commercial Computer Designed Here: Eckert-Mauchly Company

Eckert and Mauchly were behind the creation of the first computer, the ENIAC (decimal), and the EDVAC (binary) at the University of Pennsylvania. They started their own company and manufactured the first commercial computer, the BINAC, here in 1949. Also, they created the second one here, the UNIVAC, in 1951. There is a real plaque at the property concerning the BINAC.
