"The greatest photo is Jazz" was shot here on Sept. 13, 1953, by photogpraher Bob Parent. It shows the Thelonius Monk Trio, namely, Mr. Monk, Charles Mingus and Roy Haynes, with Charlie Parker sitting in. The Open Door was described as "a dump."
