Montgomery Square United Methodist Church (former site)
The history of this church at this location dates back to the mid-1800s. It is well documented on the church's Web site (the church is now at 1900 County Line Road). It is said that there was once a tunnel to a tavern across the pike, part of the Underground Railroad. A few years ago the property was sold, the church building torn down, and TD Bank erected. For many years, there were graves just a few feet from the intersection of 202 and 309. Fortunately, the graves were moved to Beulah Cemetery at 238 Almhouse Road, New Britain, PA 18901.
