Starting in the fifties this was a country & western bar with a great 2-story neon sign out front. It had been unoccupied for 17 years, and in 2013 became a hip concert venue night club. The neon boot sign no longer works, but looks great. It's anonymous creator [s]haped the boot to resemble a map of Italy, since this stretch of Broad was predominantly Italian American when the venue opened, according to Inga Saffron's article in the Philadelphia Inquirer, 2/8/15 at p. H 20.
