The Porch at 30th Street Station, a Pop-Up Park

The Porch at 30th Street Station, a Pop-Up Park

There is a movement to convert pavement to temporary parks in cities, according to Pop-up Parks, in Dwell magazine, May 2012, at p. 106, in an article by the Philadelphia Inquirer's architectural writer, Inga Saffron. Philadelphia has one called The Porch, at the 30th Street train station. Dwell describes it as an outdoor waiting room with cafe seating, umbrellas and planters that is a popular venue for concerts and a farmers' market.
