Officer Frederick J. Dolan was murdered here while in the line of duty on January 26, 1933. He was shot on the street in front of 406 North Percy Street and behind 406 North Ninth Street. He was 27 years old. I got this information from the Find A Grave Website, which has a thorough account of the tragedy, although the tombstone pictured does not seem to match. The officer's history came to my attention when I picked up the December 27, 2012 edition of The Waterbury Record (page 6) while in Vermont last week. It contains an Opinion piece by Maria Archangelo on gun violence, and she talks about how Officer Fred Dolan was her grandfather.
