Gansta Rap originated here (via Schoolly D)

Gangsta rap originated here, beginning with 52 Crew, for which Schoolly D rapped. It is pretty much a given that Schoolly D started gangsta rap. See, for ex., Dan DeLuca's column in today's Philadelphia Inquirer, at p. H2. In Schoolly D's 1985 single, "P.S.K. What Does it Mean?" the acronym stands for Parkside Killers.
